I have a gmail account and i am a frequent internet user. I have recently started to receive a barrage of spam email advertising prnography. They are basically plain text emails, a different strange name for each sender, and a link after some random improper sentences making no sense. There is a link to unsubscribe at the bottom, i have tried it a few times, but all i get is a few photos advertising *********** prnography and a message saying i was unsubscribed, but it wont relent. They all pass the spam filter, although i mark each as spam. Help!

Hi there
went through the same thing.I found the only way to stop all the junk was to change my E Mail address.Ring your server and change it.
Now only give that address to your family and close friends.
If your go to a site that requires your e mail address use yahoo’s they have an inbuilt filter and the spam never gets onto your system. By the way dont reply to any e mails from strangers as you could down load virus, trojans, keyloggers and malware.
If you stay out of **** sites that helps also.
Hope this is helpful

Sad to say, that in the case of free web based email (like gmail), the only way is to register a new one.
You must have inavertly posted your email openly somewhere (forums, bulletin boards, etc). Email harvesters regularly scan the web for emails, and your email could be compromised within an hour of posting. Or you have submitted the email during registration somewhere.
The not so “clean” solution is to register a Yahoo mail account, and forward your Gmail emails your new Yahoo inbox. The built-in filter in Yahoo might be able to filter those email.
Alternately, forwarding your email to your PC’s Outlook would also work, apply rules and filters onto the Outlook. But it’s not really convenient
Just a handy trick for next time, obfuscate your email a bit if you need to post it openly somewhere:
ie: mike(a)gmail.com or mike(at)gmail.com or mikegmailcom
People generally understand it.
like the others said you cant stop them but it happens when you join anything like a forum and let other members send you email….or some 1 u know could have put your email down on a dodgy site?!?!
no no no no…
starting a new email address is a waste of time.
there are a few things that will work.
#1. do a domain whois search on the site they are spamming. once you do this, you can find out information about what company is hosting the website.. then simply forward the emails to the hosting company showing them that the spam is indeed coming from their servers.
if they are using a proxy registrar, you will probably need to call the site proxy and ask them for the information.
#2. so now you have a bit of info. google their name and join a few anti-spam forums. (EVERY site owner can be found.. it just takes some time) start a message and tell people what site spammed you, and the info you have on it. 80% of the time, users in those groups will have compiled a list of information about that particular site/owner.
keep going back and fourth between forums exchanging information.. (yes, the spam will keep coming, but you are at least getting somewhere).
Because a site has **** on it, they must comply with united states federal regulations. (18 U.S.C laws)
these laws state that all records must be kept about models appearing on the sites, usually in the custody of record custodians.
the record holders are required by law to give a person access to information about models on the sites.. these record also must include the models sponsers… aka name, address, and telephone number.
so now write a nice letter and send it to the persons home asking to be removed from their mailing lists. 99% of the time, these site owners are freaked out enough to immediatly remove your address.. its pretty scarey knowing someone found your address and is asking you to stop doing something.
if that doesnt work, there is always the telephone. call them up, freak them out even more.
Next, if none of those things work to get the site owners attention, there is always retaliation. Sites pay for bandwidth. The more traffic they have on their sites, the higher the bill goes, so do a search on refi retaliator.
the last time i used this program, it required the spam address to be listed on a number of different credible anti-spam sites, so that a legitimate site isnt clogged. once it was confirmed, it would send out a message to other computers using this software, and they would all bombard the site with programs designed to fill out forms, click links, and basically slow the bandwidth down.
never use the ‘remove me’ from these emails. that shows the spammer that the email they have is a working email, and they will then send that to more spammers.
I **** spam with a passion.. more then anything in the world, and using the mentioned methods, i have gone from 20 spams a day to 1-3 a week. it hasnt completely stopped, but its getting much better.
