We send out legitimate emails that randomly get filtered as spam – how can we stop this?

We (our company) sends out legit, non-spam, emails to our members and some of them get caught up in Yahoo’s spam filters, while others make it through. Does anyone have a short list of things to avoid when sending legit emails so that we can fine tune our practices?

Also, is there a way to petition Yahoo to have your domain added to an acceptable list of some sort?

Thanks a ton.
